Captain: Jocelyn Charman

Coach: John Shaw

League: South Premier League Division Two

The 2010/2011 season was somewhat inconsistent for the Women’s Blues. The squad came away with some excellent results against tough opposition, especially in our BUCS league where we managed to achieve a well-deserved fourth place finish, beating both Bath and Bristol Universities and drawing with Exeter. In our Saturday league we were slightly less successful, battling it out in the middle of the table and this year’s Varsity match ended in a 1-1 draw: frustrating for the team but enough to retained the trophy.

Next year we will be looking to reproduce the strong results we had in the BUCS South Premier League and aiming to finish higher in South Premier League Division Two. Although some key players will be leaving the team a strong core group will remain and with ex GB player, John Shaw, as coach we are confident of a successful season, hopefully topped off by a Varsity victory.

Preseason starts on the 12th September in Oxford and a training camp in Barcelona has been organized for the following week. Prospective players are strongly encouraged to get in touch over the summer regarding preseason (jocelyn.charman@pmb.ox.ac.uk). It is a great opportunity to acquaint yourself with the club and enable the coach and captain to see you before term starts.

Playing hockey at Oxford is a thoroughly rewarding experience and OUHC is an extremely welcoming club with great team spirit on and off pitch.
