Men's Blues
Captain: Adam Jordan

Coach: John Shaw

League: Southern Premier League

2010/11 saw the Men's Blues play a season with two very different halves. Before christmas we opted to take the challenging route through the league, which gave us something to really work for after the break - a win. These came in abundance in the second half of the season, testament to the character and wealth of ability throughout the team. Second place in the South Premier BUCS league was a great achievement and sent a message to the opponents that Varsity would be a tough game; the season was competently wrapped up with a 5-2 victory over Cambridge in the Varsity match.

Both of our leagues offer us a great challenge, with no game being a given win or loss. Going into next year we are maintaining much of the squad from last season and, with the presence of John Shaw, former GB captain, as coach we are looking to excel ourselves with promotion contention in the saturday league, semi-finals in the BUCS knock-outs and of course, a huge varsity win.

Preseason this year will highlight our intentions; beginning on the 12th September 2011 we will have significant time to prepare for the first match of the year. Included in this three week program will be a five day training camp in Barcelona at the renowned Polo Club. Prospective new players are strongly encouraged to get in touch in advance with the aim to attend preseason training. Accommodation can be arranged and it is a great way to meet the team early and get integrated into potentially the most renowned and sociable sports club at the University.

I look forward to meeting new players, supporters and returning with a strong team to see what we can do next season.
